The Calendaring Challenge
Today, most physicians access their personal calendar with an email client like Microsoft Outlook on either their home or office PC. Professional schedules are provided on paper, printed from their practice management scheduling application, or manually typed into their Outlook calendar by an administrative assistant. Departmental calendars are maintained in a similar email client system on the office PC. Multiple calendars containing separate scheduling information for one physician create administrative overhead, scheduling conflicts and frustrated physicians.
These three calendars that live in three different systems, can be brought together to one location, in one solution, using industry standard tools.
Global Works saw the need for this solution and sought a client development partner that recognized the value of delivering to their physicians a better way to manage their business and personal lives.
North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System (NSLIJ) was in the process of merging two separate health systems under one corporate entity. Soon their physicians would have increased patient loads and multiple locations for providing care. A merge of this size can be chaotic to the lives of the physicians and administrators. NSLIJ strove to maintain stability for their professional staff and, if possible, make their lives easier.
Instant Physician Access to Information
The power of One Look lies in the access it provides. Previously, doctors were limited in their access to patient appointment data, relying on paper reports or the accuracy of manual schedule entry into their PC's or knowledge of IDX Scheduling. With One Look, doctors can access their past, present and future appointment data from their hand held charge entry devices, PDA's, Web Site, home or office PC. Suddenly MDs are independent from the system and can manage personal and professional scheduling conflicts before the conflict takes place.
